19.08.2010

Russian automotive market, which pretended to leadership during 2008, and became the fifth in Europe last year, at the end of July managed to reach a third place in “European championship” in the current year, state analysts of agency «AUTOSTAT». According to expert opinion, such a high result of Russian automotive market is stipulated principally by more evident seasonal fluctuations of automotive sales in Europe and by cash-for-clunker program, acting in our country.
As it is pointed out in July review of European automotive market, the largest European automotive market remains Germany, though car sales in this country continue to drop – by 30% up to 237,5 K units. A second place as before belongs to France, where sales drop is registered for the third month – by 12,9% up to 169,8 K cars. If Russia is taken into account, when considering European market, then our country reached a third place in July for the first time in the current year. By reckoning of agency «AUTOSTAT», sales of passenger cars on Russian market grew by 49,4% up to 161,1 K cars last month. A fourth place is occupied by Italy with its rate of 152,7 K sold cars, though automotive market of this country is falling for the fourth month in succession – by 26%. Great Britain dropped to a fifth place, where in July car sales decreased by 13,2% up to 136,4 K cars for the first time after 12 months growth. It should be also noted that Spanish automotive market, which showed positive dynamics within ten months, dropped by 24,1% up to 82167 new cars in July due to cancellation of utilization bonuses, having reached its 15-year old minimum.

Meanwhile, as a result of seven months of 2010 Russian automotive market stays at a fifth place, state analysts of agency «AUTOSTAT». Thus, a first place belongs to Germany with its rate of over 1,7 mln sold cars, a second place – to France (1 mln 382 K pcs), a third place – to Italy (1 mln 317 K pcs), a fourth place – to Great Britain (1 mln 245 K pcs) and a fifth place – to Russia (893857 pcs).
